As I started to watch "The Convent", I initially thought: oh here we go again, a period piece (I tend to hate those) and probably another really bad religious Horror movie. And not even ten minutes in, I loved every minute of it. My eyes were glued to the screen. The atmosphere totally carried me away. The acting was phenomenal, the direction by Paul Hyett as well. The score was on point, the costumes looked good. But most important were the effects to me. Sure, there was obviously CGI involved and to some of you this might just look silly. But I totally dug that look. The glowing eyes made this so cool, that I really can't say anything bad about this entire film. And if you are familiar with my reviews you know, that I often not tend to go very hard on movies, but immediately point out everything I disliked without holding back. I had an absolute blast with "The Convent" from start to finish. This is the kind of movie "The Nun" should have been!!! I see that the overall rating for this film is quite low. And maybe it is just me that this film spoke to some very personal beat inside me, but why should I follow the masses anyway? I never did. I dislike tons of classics, favor many remakes and never gave a damn if my taste in movies is weird or not. Really, check this film out, it absolutely deserves attention.

You've reached the end.
