Way back in 1956 a groundbreaking film called "Invasion of the body snatchers" offered up scares based on the notion of something familiar but at the same time alien and menacing.

"Curon" whilst not tapping into the alien concept walks a similar path. Nearest and dearest replaced by unfamiliar others who are literally, our own, alter egos.

Its competently presented, if a little heavy handed, at times. The characters often feel a little overstated, unsubtle. A lighter treatment, to my mind, would have actually accentuated the sense of dread and creeping terror.

The setting and cinamatics work well, its a visually attractive, watch with an appealing rural setting juxaposed with industrial style military ruins and fortifications, that are unsettling and creepy. A perfect counterpoint for a tale about the yin and yang of human nature.

I will add there's a dash of woke-ism on offer here that some may finding brittle and lecturing. Certainly I felt this series would have been better off without it.

Nonetheless a mostly decent watch pitched squarely at teens and twenty somethings but mature enough to be accessible to viewers outside this demographic.

6/10.
