Set in the era of Fascist Italy, Inspector Ricciardi, is an unexpected crime series, that offers more than you might expect.

Stepping beyond the episodic tales of crime, Ricciardi is tasked with solving, is a well rounded, personal drama which encompass's not only the Inspector but also secondary and even tertiary characters. This lends real depth to this series and brings Italy of this period to vivid life.

Perhaps the only shortcomings are there are a few plot holes, at times and some of the tales are so complex, involving so many twist and turns, they can become very difficult to follow. Thankfully this happens infrequently and for the most part, I enjoyed the six episodes, that constituted the first season.

In summary, a well written series that takes a considered approach, stepping beyond being just another nostalgia driven crime drama.

You've reached the end.
